The Greater Victoria Local Immigration Partnership Seeks Members for Their Immigration Advisory Team
Are you a newcomer to Victoria? Do you have a passion for improving immigration experiences? The Greater Victoria Local Immigration Partnership (GVLIP) would love to have you on our Immigrant Advisory Team!
We are looking for a diverse representation of experiences including those with a refugee background. By joining us you will:
- Meet other newcomers to the region;
- Talk with representatives of businesses, institutions, and agencies in the community;
- Steer our community to become more welcoming and inclusive.
Meet other passionate community members, learn more about the Greater Victoria area, and help us develop plans.
What is the Greater Victoria Local Immigration Partnership?
The Greater Victoria Local Immigration Partnership brings together a group of individuals, agencies, and institutions focused on making our region more welcoming and inclusive. For more information, visit our GVLIP web page.
What does the Immigrant Advisory Team do?
As a member of the IAT you would bring to the table a much needed first-hand understanding of the challenges and issues that are faced by newcomers to the region. The IAT aims to represent newcomers from a range of countries of origin, length of time in Canada, work backgrounds, age, and gender. The team meets six times per year and, if selected, you will be expected to:
- Provide feedback on the GVLIP and its work;
- Provide insight to help shape plans and actions;
- Reach out to your own communities to gather advice.
Join us and tell us what you want Victoria to look like in the future!
