Rate of Pay: $ 13.53 – 15.91 per hour

Job Description:
The Childminder-Full-time position provides care in a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for the pre-school children of participants in ICA’s English Language Services for Adults (ELSA). Under the direction of the ELSA Childminding Supervisor, the Childminder- Full-time: plans and implements a program of developmentally appropriate activities; organizes space and equipment and prepares materials prior to activities; contributes to cleanup; provides a supportive, nurturing and homelike environment which facilitates cultural understanding; encourages children to practice self-help in a cooperative environment; attends to children’s physical needs for diapering, feeding and sleeping; appropriately disciplines children when necessary; works in partnership with parents to meet the needs of each individual child; keeps accurate records, attends scheduled staff meetings and performs other duties, as required.

Qualifications:
ECE Certificate or related training and demonstrated successful experience in a childcare setting. Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of immigrant families. Ability to work cooperatively as part of a diverse team. Second language an asset. Successful applicants will be required to pass a criminal record check, TB test (if applicable), and provide a letter from their doctor stating that they are in good physical and mental health.

Position: Coordinator Immigrant Settlement and Integration Services

Job Description:
The Settlement and Integration Services Coordinator is a leadership position that develops and manages the settlement and integration services program for immigrants, refugees, refugee claimants and cultural and linguistically isolated individuals. The Coordinator provides leadership and support to the departmental staff for the effective delivery of services; develops and manages the settlement and integration services programs through intake, assessment, orientation, information, referrals and advocacy; links clients with community resources, establishes and maintains working relationships with other service providers; provides culturally sensitive problem solving counseling; supervises and evaluates staff; trains volunteers and practicum students in issues and skills related to settlement and immigration services; prepares and manages the department budget; compiles reports, statistics and correspondence, liaises with funders, and develops proposals for programs and projects that enhance the services of the program. This is one of two coordinator positions that will share the work load. This position will be primarily responsible for late afternoon and evening services as well as off site services in the Western Communities and Saanich. The position sometimes requires use of an automobile.

Qualifications:
Well-developed understanding of immigration, settlement and integration issues and an up-to-date command of immigration processes and challenges. Experience in a multicultural environment and in the delivery of culturally sensitive services. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, five years supervisory experience with staff and volunteers, project and multi-source budget management experience. The successful candidate will have a post secondary degree in a related field. A second language in one of the predominant settlement languages is an asset.

Job Description:
The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) Settlement Worker provides settlement and integration services to immigrants, refugees and their families. The Settlement Counselor provides settlement and integration services to ICA clients through intake assessment, orientation, information and referrals and advocacy within the ICA as well as linking clients with community resources. May be required to work satellite locations.

Qualifications:
1. Education and Training: Candidates for the position of Settlement Counselor should have a Social Work degree or certificate, or equivalent education and experience. One position requires in depth labour market knowledge.
Experience and knowledge in the area of service provision in a cross-cultural environment. Extensive experience working with immigrants, refugees and international clients. Fluency and competency in spoken and written English, and competent second language skills in settlement languages such as Punjabi, Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, French, Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Korean, Russian, etc.
At least two years of experience working with immigrants and refugees
Practical experience in service provision and counseling in a cross-cultural setting
Equivalent education, training and experience will be considered.

2. Required Skills and Abilities for the Candidate:
Counseling skills and case management skills
Excellent communication skills; an effective speaker on one-on-one setting as well as group facilitation skills. Ability to comprehend and interpret sensitive and confidential information in dealing with multicultural clients. Excellent time management and record keeping skills. Extensive experience in working with internet research and a variety of computer applications. Knowledge of community resources and a community development approach to working with other community service providers. An understanding of the social, legal, economic issues surrounding the immigration process as well as working experiences in non-profit organizations. Current driver’s license.

Position Description: This full time permanent position provides telephone and in person reception for a busy, multi-service non-profit organization. The position maintains the reception area, bulletin boards, common areas, shared equipment and room booking systems, handles petty cash and payment of fees, voice mail and general enquiries by email; handles incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries, maintains mailing, membership, and interpreter database systems, and generally provides administrative support to the staff and volunteers in the office. The position is supervised by the Executive Assistant.

Qualifications: Proven customer service skills, high school graduation, a diploma or certificate in office administration or office management, mastery of business equipment and computer applications (Windows, Email, the MS Office suite, and the internet) accurate keyboarding minimum 50 wpm, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work in a high pressure multitasking environment, proficiency in French. A friendly, welcoming manner is important.

Experience: 3 to 5 years experience in a fast paced, multi-tasking office environment, experience with a diverse clientele and with dealing with customers who do not speak English as a first language, office systems training and experience. Personal immigrant experience would be an asset. Equivalent education, training and experience will be considered.

Position: Host Mentoring Services Facilitator

Job Description:
The Host Mentoring Services Facilitator will work in the Volunteer Community Bridging Services to recruit, place, and match volunteers to new immigrants. The focus of the matches will be based on a mentorship style, matching newcomers that are internationally trained professionals (ITP) in a specific career field (Mentees) with a Canadian volunteer that is in the same or related career field (Mentors). The Host Mentoring Services Facilitator will also provide support and information on the local labour market, career exploration guidance, and employment resources for matched newcomers and volunteers. The Host Mentoring Services Facilitator will promote this project to the community as well as to businesses/employers that may be interested in having their employees involved in community volunteering. Employers would be encouraged to provide work experience at their worksite for newcomer ITPs.
The Host Mentoring Services Facilitator will prepare monthly reports on matches, refer clients to appropriate community services and resources as well as work with the Volunteer Community Bridging Coordinator and other program and agency staff for the effective delivery of services.

Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in a discipline related to business or social services and a minimum two years demonstrated successful experience in an employment counseling program or equivalent training and experience will be considered. Experience and knowledge in the areas of employment/career assessment and guidance, counseling services, and immigrant and multicultural services. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to function productively in a cross-cultural environment. Proficiency in common desktop computer applications. Successful applicants will be required to pass a criminal record check.
