Moon Festival at Gordon Head
Sunday Sept. 11, at Gordon Head Recreation Centre

We held lantern-making workshops in July and August at Gordon Head Rec Centre, leading up to an evening of illuminated installations, musical performers, a giant puppet and lantern procession ending with a Lion Dance performance.  Inside the centre, we had lantern-making for kids and mooncakes and tea to enjoy.  Traditional dance performances were given by the Furusato Dancers, Victoria Chinese Seniors Association and the Victoria Society of Chinese Performing Arts. Outside accordionista Natasha Enquist and the Mesmerizing Mermaid (Hilarie Ann Higgins) charmed the crowds with their performances among the lanterns.

Presented by Saanich Parks & Recreation, Gordon Head Recreation Centre and ICA Luminara Inter-Cultural Arts. With support from Citizenship & Immigration Canada, the Province of British Columbia and the CRD Arts Development Service - IDEA Grant.

Esquimalt Lantern Festival

Our illuminated giant Sock Monkey puppet and other lanterns joined the procession at the Esquimalt Lantern Festival!
