Volunteer Victoria and ICA are pleased to offer culturally welcoming workshop training sessions. Volunteer and community-based agencies interested in attracting and engaging immigrants as employees or volunteers in their agencies are welcome to apply to attend this comprehensive program at no cost.

If you are part of defining the culture of your workplace, and want to make sure your workplace can attract, integrate and retain immigrants as employees and volunteers, this workshop is for you. Experience two days of face-to-face, highly interactive immersion in and exploration of concepts around diversity, cultural competency, immigrant experience, and how to apply this knowledge towards building a culturally welcoming workplace for newcomer employees and volunteers. Then, continue your learning with four weeks of online training modules to focus on implementing the Culturally Welcoming curriculum and creating changes in your recruitment, screening, training, development, recognition and retention practices.

Program includes:

Face to face workshop to be held Wednesday March 31st and Thursday April 1st 8:30am-4:30pm at the Harbour Towers Hotel and Suites in Victoria. Four weeks of online learning modules starting April 6, 2010.

Victoria community agency participants are asked to send their completed applications forms to Volunteer Victoria in advance of March 19, 2010 to be considered for this no cost program. Spaces are limited.
