Are you 15 – 23 years old and interested in exploring the subjects of identity, race, faith and belonging? Here’s your chance to put your creative genius to work!
Under the guidance of international award-winning painter and experienced local visual artist Chin Yuen, this ICA artistic youth project will help young people examine the subjects of identity, race, faith and belonging using different visual approaches to expressing the self.
Through photography, collage and painting, young people will get to explore who they are and create “portraits” that capture their full stories.
The workshops are FREE and you are encouraged to attend all 3 workshops.
Here is the schedule for the workshops:
* Friday, October 25 from 4:00pm – 6:30pm: Project Introduction and Orientation
* Saturday, October 26 from 1:00pm – 4:30pm: Creating Self-Portraits
* Sunday, October 27 from 1:00pm – 4:30pm: Creating Self-Portraits (continued)
Each participant will receive a small honorarium to cover transportation and minor expenses. Refreshments will be served at each workshop.
This project is aligned with ICA’s mandate to create a space for people of all backgrounds, regardless of colour, race, sexual orientation, religion and culture.
Many thanks to Multiculturalism BC for funding this project.
