Ai Sakamoto, Employment Services Coordinator
I am pleased to announce that 12 participants of the RTEP (Refugee Training and Employment Program) have successfully completed a 9-week full-time training (Job Readiness and Job Specific training including First Aid and WHMIS certification) on May 12th. We had a graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievement. The program, in partnership with the British Columbia Alliance of Manufacturers, and funded by the BC-Canada job fund, provided training and a guaranteed job offer in the manufacturing sector at the end of the 8 weeks.
The BCAFM (BC Alliance for Manufacturing) has been working on job placement and all clients will obtain full-time employment in the manufacturing sector by the end of June.
To date, 4 of the clients have started working for one employer. The other 8 clients are currently in the process of job placement.
We are so grateful to have the opportunity to assist clients with starting their new careers in Canada and will continue to follow up with them.
We are considering running a second cohort program in the fall of this year.
