ICA’s Chief Executive Officer Has Retired

Jean McRae

After 35 years at ICA, and 24 years as our CEO, Jean McRae retired at the end of July 2022.

With Jean’s leadership locally and nationally, ICA has thrived and grown. When Jean began as ICA’s CEO in 1998, we were a staff of 20. Now, we are a staff of over 110 and serve more than 2,000 people annually!

Key achievements include:

ICA was a leader on Vancouver Island resettling refugees beginning in the 1970s when we served refugees from Southeast Asia to the more recent crises in Syria and Ukraine.

ICA has and continues to engage with the community through programs like the Community Partnership Network and the Local Immigration Partnership. We work with over 350 organizations to strengthen our collective ability to be a welcoming and inclusive community.

Ways To Give

Your tax-deductible donation helps ICA welcome, support and provide much-needed services for immigrants and refugees as they settle into the community. There are many ways to give a gift that has a direct, positive impact on the lives of newcomers. Donate or volunteer today!

ICA has impacted the sector by working at the intersection of arts, research, and social services which has deepened our collective understanding of the lived experiences of immigrants, refugees, and racialized people.

To meet the growing demands for ICA’s services, we are providing an ever-expanding array of programs from Settlement Workers in Schools to resettlement of refugees and, more recently, diversity, equity, and inclusion training programs. Thanks to strong community support from people like you, we have helped tens of thousands of people establish new homes here and share their skills, talents, and experience with the community.

ICA is in a strong position to meet the challenges that lie ahead. We have a thoughtful and talented Board of Directors, volunteers, and dedicated, knowledgeable and capable staff members who ensure ICA’s programs are carried out with the utmost integrity and quality. ICA’s Board of Directors is leading the search process to fill the CEO role.

These are turbulent times for all of us but, in particular, for those fleeing war, violence, and persecution. Thank you for standing by ICA as we navigate this important transition and provide essential support to newcomers to our region.
