Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants

Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants (CPSI) is designed to bridge newcomer professionals to a meaningful career that aligns with your pre-arrival experience and training.

The Career Paths program at ICA can help with:

  • Job search strategies, cover letter/resume writing
  • Funded skills training and upgrading
  • Creating connections with local employers
  • Mentorship and professional networking – accessing the hidden job market
  • Finding information for additional certifications you might need
  • Understanding the credential evaluation and recognition process
  • Gaining insights into Regulatory Bodies/requirements
  • Learning more about potential internship opportunities in the community relevant to your career field

Program Eligibility:

  • Permanent Resident within the last 5 years
  • Unemployed or Underemployed
  • Not receiving Employment Insurance (EI) or BC Employment Assistance (BCEA)
  • Three (3) years’ pre-arrival experience in a particular career field (one year if 19-30 years of age)
  • Intermediate to Advanced level of English Proficiency
