Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants
Are you a foreign-trained professional looking to pursue your career goal, and are in need of support?
Career Paths for Skilled Immigrants (CPSI) is designed to bridge newcomer professionals to a meaningful career that aligns with your pre-arrival experience and training.
The Career Paths program at ICA can help with:
- Job search strategies, cover letter/resume writing
- Funded skills training and upgrading
- Creating connections with local employers
- Mentorship and professional networking – accessing the hidden job market
- Finding information for additional certifications you might need
- Understanding the credential evaluation and recognition process
- Gaining insights into Regulatory Bodies/requirements
- Learning more about potential internship opportunities in the community relevant to your career field
Program Eligibility:
- Permanent Resident within the last 5 years
- Unemployed or Underemployed
- Not receiving Employment Insurance (EI) or BC Employment Assistance (BCEA)
- Three (3) years’ pre-arrival experience in a particular career field (one year if 19-30 years of age)
- Intermediate to Advanced level of English Proficiency
