LINC Level 2 Class

LINC English Classes

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) provides English language training from beginner to advanced levels for adult newcomers to Canada. LINC is funded by the Government of Canada and free for students.

To join a LINC class, you must be a newcomer, 17 years old or older and be a permanent resident or refugee. Classes are free, friendly, and focus on practical English and information about life in Canada. Childcare is available for preschool children of LINC students. LINC is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

In September 2020, our LINC program will re-open for face-to-face classes for the first time in six months. The health and safety of our students and staff is very important to us as we move forward during the current COVID-19 pandemic. We will re-open for face-to-face classes safely with small groups of students,  alternating attendance and online classes to ensure physical distancing in classes and the childminding facility. We will be implementing other measures in addition to physical distancing to ensure everyone’s health and safety. Some of these measures include screening everyone entering ICA offices, limiting movement and interactions in our buildings and classrooms, making sure hand sanitizers and disinfectants are readily available and encouraging their use. While most of our classes will use a blended model of face-to-face and online classes, our literacy and LINC 1 classes will be face-to-face only and two higher-level classes will be offered online only.

If you are interested in joining a LINC class, please call 250-388-4728 and ask for the Settlement Client Navigator.
